A Poetry Writing Competition

A Poetry Writing Competition

We have a new poetry competition and we want you all to join in, letting your inner poet out...

Ah, poetry. Love it or hate it, there's something beautiful and endearing about this form of writing. There's a slew of poetry already on Movellas worth checking out. We would like to see even more of it :)

Even if poetry isn't your thing, don't you think it might be time to give it a try? You'd be surprised how challenging, and fun, emphasis on fun, poetry-writing can be, and so we're ready to read the poems you all feel inspired to write, whatever they may be.

We've had some epic poetry competitions, and some more specific ones, this competition is for everyone and anyone who likes to write their own poetry, and it's much less specific when it comes to what you must write about. We want to encourage you talented movellians to write a poem (or max three poems!) on the subject of your choice.

All poets start somewhere, and perhaps this competition is the start of something great. Either way, we are prepared to find out. Think about your favorite kind of poetry, or the kind you like to read best and try to compose your own version! There are not a lot of limits in this competition for it may very well be time to let the inner poet that we all have inside free...

How to Participate

For this competition, you must write a poem (and you can enter a maximum of three poems).

Please do not submit poetry anthologies as your entry (an anthology is more than one poem, or a collection of poems), only enter single poems in your entry as this will make the judging fairer and more straightforward :)

Winners will have their poetry shared on Movellas' social media (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, etc.)

1st place will receive a copy of No Matter the Wreckage by Sarah Kay in collaboration with illustrator Sophia Janowitz!

2nd place will receive the princess saves herself in this one, a poetry book by Amanda Lovelace.

3rd place will receive a copy of Born to Love, Cursed to Feel, another great book of poetry written by Samantha King.
