    mumbled "query"

soooo I'm gonna take a big fucking step and start querying agents. I finished my manuscript and honestly it's pretty solid, and I think that the next logical step would be to have an agent look at it and give me the next round of edits (after my amazing beta readers) but I'm absolutely fucking terrified

I mean part of it is I have to query for thesis but my thesis prof wants us to BCC her on the emails and like.... I'm scared that that is gonna hurt my chances??? Cuz like... if they see "undisclosed recipients" on the email they might think I mass emailed the query and agents really hate when you do that

I've been on Movellas for a while now and I think it has become increasingly hard to get readers over the last few years. I don't know whether it's the overtaking of fanfiction or just less people active but it is harder now.

I guess though, best advice would be is to mumble about, provide links people can easily click on, post excerpts to engage people maybe and pursuade them to read the whole thing. There's also no shame in physically asking people directly whether they would read your work. It's worth a shot! :)

Honestly, I sold out. I wrote a fanficiton or two in the hopes that it would lead people who want to read those to read my original work. It works, somewhat. I always mumble when I post a new chapter or sometimes ask for CC swaps so we can review each other's works and sometimes people just mumble about wanting to read stories so you can always link yours there. I tend to not like when people ask me to read their stories straight up, but sometimes I read it anyways.

So, I made one. I don't know if it's going to get any traction, especially since I suck at marketing myself, but I did it. If you want to check it out, here's the link:

I'm going to be posting things like tutorials and blogs and things there, so if you want to learn how to design your own covers, or even get tips for writing, please consider becoming a patron!

    mumbled "Patreon?"

So I'm still having money problems (the proposal for my next possible interning gig is STILL on the table), and I'm thinking of starting a Patreon. I'm not exactly an artist, but I was thinking of making one for my cover store? Can I do that? Would that be something I can get patrons for? I would have like... tutorials for higher pledging patrons and icon requests and stuff for lower paying patrons and maybe streams and things to show people how I make covers but IDK if this is even realistic.

That can be done! I think you should, the people in this community are nice enough that you may receive a few donations. Having a patreon is also a big step towards making it a career rather than a hobby also :)
It's definitely worth a try. The worst thing that can happen is you gaining some experience. :)
